Recently, there have been some new changes in the Waqf Board Act. A new bill has been passed for these changes. Actually, this law was already in existence, but now it has been updated with some new provisions. When these changes were effectively implemented, there was opposition to them in many places.
Mamata Banerjee
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee opposed it. She clearly said that she would not allow this bill to be implemented in West Bengal. After this announcement, large-scale protests started in many areas of West Bengal. People came out on the streets and started protesting at many places.
Violence
- Murshidabad has a population of 66% Muslims and 33% Hindus. When protests started here, they soon turned violent. The situation deteriorated so much that fear gripped the homes of Hindus. Many Hindu people were seriously injured in this violence and their homes were damaged.
- There was a hotel called Shri Hari Hindu Hotel and Lodge, which was badly damaged. In the same area, there was a sweet shop owned by a Hindu family, which was also vandalised. There was also an ambulance, its driver was pulled out and beaten, and then the ambulance was set on fire.
Murshidabad district is the place from where the Ganges river originates. Many people from this district, especially from the Hindu community, have crossed the Ganges river from their place. They have gone towards Malda District. Some videos show that these people are now sitting in schools. Perhaps these are government schools, and these people are living there like studying. It is very strange that in a Hindu-majority country, Hindus themselves have become a gang. They are eating food there, and it is very sad to see this.

President Rule in Bengal soon?
Violence continues in Murshidabad and its surrounding areas over a law in West Bengal. In protest against the violence against Hindus in Bengal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad called for a nationwide protest on Saturday. People joined this protest in district headquarters across the country. Workers of many political organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, BJP, and JDU were also participating in it. BJP leader Agnimitra said that if the people here and the Women’s Commission are demanding Article 356, i.e. President’s rule, then it means that it has become necessary. He also said that there is no security arrangement here. The way Hindu houses were burnt in Murshidabad, it seems that an attempt is being made to drive Hindus out of West Bengal.
