Coolie Movie Review

We saw Coolie movie with a budget of 400 crores – it was a housefull environment.

• The film had already secured an advance booking of 100 crores before its release, which means its demand and hype in the market was quite high.
• The main question is: does the film really justify this hype and investment? Is it worth your money and time?
• On the positive side, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has given a strong tribute to Rajinikanth, and the de-aging, action, and larger than life entries in the film attracted the audience.
• The action scenes and camera work were technically very strong, especially when it came to cinematography and visual appeal.
• The background music (BGM) of the movie was its biggest USP, which handled the average script of the film at many places and maintained the tension.
• But, the pace and script of the first half were weak.
• Multiple cameos in the second half—Rajinikanth, Upendra, Aamir Khan—make the film somewhat engaging, but each cameo fails to have the expected impact.
• Rajinikanth’s performance and Malayalam actor Shobin Shahir’s screen presence are both the main highlights.
• The movie is placed in the A rated adult category, but as per the content, it only has blood and action, which do not seem very impressive.
• The second half of the story moves fast, which reduces the audience’s involvement till the climax.
• Some songs, especially Moni’s song, do not fit naturally into the plot and seem to be forcibly added.
• Overall, the hype of the film was somewhat more than the actual delivery. It is a stand-alone average movie, which has a good theatrical experience, but is not that strong on the content level.
• The director clarified that this is not a part of LCU,
• The movie is a fan-service for Rajinikanth fans; ratings don’t matter to them.
• From a commercial point of view, the movie can be rated 7/10. It is worth watching in theatres, money won’t be wasted, but the story will seem too complicated in the Hindi dubbed version.

• – If you want a real experience, then the Tamil version will be suitable.

Overall the movie is good but you should go with high expectations and this movie is not a part of LCU
