—A serious road accident occurred near Patrighat on Mandi-Jahu road on Tuesday in which a private bus fell into a gorge. The bus was going from Jahu to Mandi. There were about 25 to 30 passengers in the bus. As a result of the accident 2 persons died while 15 to 20 other passengers were injured. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital for immediate treatment.

There were about 25 passengers in the bus. The situation was very serious during the accident. It has been reported that one person got trapped under the bus, while the driver is also trapped inside the bus. The help of a crane is being taken to take both of them out safely.
The Sarkaghat police team has reached the spot and relief and rescue operations are underway. According to preliminary investigation, the main cause of the accident is said to be the bad condition of the road and the negligence of the driver.
The administration has started investigating the matter and has assured to provide necessary assistance to the families of the deceased. DSP Sarkaghat, Sanjeev Gautam has confirmed that this private bus fell into the ditch.
The injured were taken to the hospital
So far more than 15 people have been injured, who were immediately admitted to the nearest hospital. Some people suffered minor injuries, but two-three people were directly trapped under the bus – they were pulled out by calling a crane. One person’s leg was broken, a lot of trouble was faced in removing him. The administration left no stone unturned in the rescue, and also expedited the work. People from the vicinity also reached there within a few minutes, everyone helped enthusiastically. Videos of the accident are also floating on social media – somewhere people are taking the injured out of the bus, then in one video it is directly seen that a man is trapped inside the bus and all efforts are being made to save him.

Right now both the police and the administration are trying hard to get to the bottom of the matter. In the initial investigation, it seems that the rain and the slippery road caused the problem. After the accident, there is silence in the area, people are scared. DSP Sanjeev Gautam said – the rescue work is over, the injured have been sent to the hospital. Now the administration is going through the list, who was in the bus, what happened to whom, everyone’s identity is being collected.
And to be honest, if the bus had not hit the tree, the damage could have been even bigger – that means the soul shivers just thinking about the situation. Such incidents remind us again and again that driving in the mountains is no joke, a slight mistake and trouble is yours!
