Delhi Metro fare hike: Change after 8 years, know the direct impact of new rates

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has revised the fares after a long gap of eight years, which has come into effect from August 25. This change holds special significance for millions of commuters and corporate professionals of the capital. Let us know in brief points, the major impact of this revision—

1. Fare hike limit

The fares on all metro lines have been increased from Rs 1 to Rs 4. This will directly increase the cost of daily commuters.

2. Airport Express Line

The fare here has been increased from Rs 1 to Rs 5, making travel to the airport more premium now—corporate travellers will have to plan an additional budget.

3. New minimum and maximum fare

Now the minimum fare has been fixed at Rs 11 and the maximum at Rs 64. Earlier it was Rs 10 and Rs 60 respectively. This will affect the monthly travel budget.

4. When was the last revision?

The last change was made in 2017 on the recommendation of the Fourth Fare Fixation Committee (FFC). This increase is being seen for the first time in eight years.

5. When will the new fare be applicable?

These changes have come into effect from 25 August 2025. Passengers will have to immediately revise their travel budget.

6. Business perspective

This increase will help DMRC in controlling the increase in the cost of metro operations. Apart from this, corporate employees and daily commuters will be required to re-evaluate their monthly expenses.
