OMG Haryana government imposes complete ban on tobacco products

The Haryana government has banned the production, storage, distribution and sale of gutkha, pan masala, zarda, and all chewing products containing tobacco and nicotine for one year.

The Haryana government has imposed this ban for one year.

Strict action will be taken against violators. Fines can go up to Rs 10 lakh.

The government says that cases of cancer and serious diseases are increasing rapidly due to consumption of tobacco and gutkha, especially among the youth.

Overall, this decision is considered a major step towards health protection and cancer prevention.

Sale of tobacco products (cigarettes, beedis, gutkha, pan masala, flavoured tobacco etc.) is completely prohibited within a distance of 100 yards (approximately 91 metres) from the boundary of any school, college or educational institution.
