ISRO released satellite images
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday released satellite images of the damage caused by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar and its neighbouring countries, causing massive destruction in the region. ISRO used its most advanced earth imaging satellite, Cartosat-3, to capture these images. This satellite is so capable that it can take clear pictures even at a distance of less than 50 centimetres. ISRO took the images from this satellite from an altitude of 500 kilometres. These images show how a huge bridge on the Irrawaddy river collapsed due to the earthquake, indicating the severe impact of this disaster. Analysing these images can help in planning relief operations in the affected areas.
